Bible proverb: He who tills his land shall have plenty of bread, but he who chases fantasies is void of understanding
The book of proverbs in its second part gives us a set of statements that indicates the destiny that awaits us depending on whether we are wise or foolish. Happiness and success awaits the wise who have the understanding of the truth, and it is to them who we must always have as an example, the wise man takes advantage of every proverb. Instead, fools follow their own passions and whims, and pay the price for them. Many proverbs in the Bible take their teaching from the life of the countryside and from simple people to give a better understanding of their teaching, let us remember that the people of Israel were a people fundamentally linked to the concept of the land, in fact, that is the promise of God made to Abraham. God is the shepherd, the gardener, the vinedresser of his people, all the prophets tell us.
The book of Proverbs tells us a very interesting phrase: "He who tills his land shall have plenty of bread, but he who chases fantasies is void of understanding" Proverbs 12:11. The use of common sense is what most differentiates people, and common sense has a name in the bible: understanding.
Keep your head on the ground and not follow useless fantasies, often exacerbated fantasy makes us make big mistakes, never put your desire and passion above reason, this is the idea of the teaching. There is a similar proverb in another book: "Better what the eye sees than the roving of the appetite. This too is meaningless, a chasing after de wind" Ecclesiastes 6:9.
The understanding is the good intelligence, it is the reason that loves the good, understanding is a gift from God. He who has understanding, is precise and exact, always goes to the point without making mistakes and thus obtains his reward, life bears its fruits for these people; but then there are those who follow fantasies, their own idea of value, or their excessive greed and these also receive their retribution, we follow the path of the wise or we follow the path of the fool, we have to choose.
