Love is not simply a feeling or a passion. The love is a genre of feelings, we love what we desire, not all love is a passion, not all love is good. The gospel tells us about the different forms of love: Philia and Agape, John 21:15. The most important love in the gospel is the love Agape or love of Charity.
The love of Charity is a supernatural love, in theology it is considered a grace of the holy spirit, the Agape is thought as an infused virtue together with faith and hope, this love perfects all the natural virtues, that are Temperance, Fortitude , Justice and Prudence.
In the Gospel of John, Christ gives to the disciple the new commandment in John 13:34 and promises them "the spirit of truth", that is, he promises them the infusion of Charity (Gnosis), then he says: "Remain in my love", John 15,: 9.
In the Christian faith it is considered that to live Charity must "receive the holy spirit", in philosophy this is called Gnosis. This is why the Christianity of the first centuries was confused with Gnosticism. In some Christian churches this infused virtue is administered in the sacrament of Confirmation.
In the Gospels the disciples receive the Charity on Pentecost (Acts of the Apostles 2). To remain in the love of God is to remain in Charity
Charity is a Spiritual Gift. What are the Spiritual Gifts then? The gifts are perfections, the love of charity is a perfection of God, Charity is the love for the wisdom, the love proyected to the whole creation of God, the love without passion, the good Love, the Love for the Good. In the Gospel this love is express in another way: "Love your neighbor as yourself", Mark 12:31
Charity is the love in what prevails the desire for the good. The charity of God is not just love, but love well, love thinking about the good of the beloved, in the good of the neighbor, ultimately is the love which seeks communion and the common good, the Charity is expansive that's why the neighbor matters.
The Communion or life in common is a social order, is concord with social welfare.  We choose between communion or doublé life.
