Worship God: Let us fall into the hands of the Lord and not into the hands of mortals, Ben Sira 2:18

Worship God: Let us fall into the hands of the Lord and not into the hands of mortals, Ben Sira 2:18 Worship God: Let us fall into the hands of the Lord and not into the hands of mortals, Ben Sira 2:18

The master of wisdom Ben Sira introduces us to the mysteries of wisdom, because those who possess it and consider it as the most worthy and beautiful good are blessed and happy. But wisdom as a true hidden treasure, first of all, tests us if we are worthy of her, and like the tree that bears good fruit wisdom is what identifies the intellectual maturity of man; and to let be found by men the wisdom needs in us a predisposition, the spiritual gift of the fear of God: "The beginning of wisdom is to fear the Lord; she is created with the faithful in the womb" Ben Sira 1:14.
The spiritual gift of fear of God is constancy, firmness, devotion, equanimity, and stability. This gift is the previous step to the vision of God, and those who find wisdom also find the Lord, because God is the wisdom itself: "Blessed are the pure in heart because they shall see God" Matthew 5:8.
Although it must be recognized that this perception of the "face of the Lord" with the understanding is indirect, because with the vision of God the wise can adore, worship, or contemplate his divine attributes, that is, the truth, the mercy, and the wisdom of the creator.
That is why those who fear God lead a very special spiritual life, as described by Master Ben Sira:
"Those who fear the Lord do not disobey his words;
those who love him keep his ways.
Those who fear the Lord seek to please him;
those who love him are filled with his law.
Those who fear the Lord prepare their hearts
and humble themselves before him." Ben Sira 2:15-17.
And examples of these men were Moses, David, and Solomon who put their lives in the hands of God by fully trusting in his eternal and perfect providence: "Let us fall into the hands of the Lord and not into the hands of mortals. For equal to his majesty is his mercy; and equal to his name are his works" Ben Sira 2:18.
And those who worship the Lord and his wisdom, following his ways, know that in the end they will be rewarded: "Do not leave him, that you may prosper in your last days" Ben Sira 2:3.
