The love of god for us, quotes and meaning
The nature of the perfect love, the love of God:
We can only attribute perfections to God, these perfections are called spiritual gifts. We cannot attribute imperfections to God, for example the passions, guilty and shame are moviments of the soul, in essence as the greek philosophers teached push men to evil. The joy and the hope are attachments, moviments of the spirit.
In practice by love (eros) we can act imprudently, the desires of the passion and the desires of the reason can oppose each other. If this happened in God, his will not be one and therefore God would be divisible. The unity of God and his will implies that passions can not exist in God. This is the explanation of the affirmation that God is love free from passions.
Although God is Agape Love, Love of Charity, yes we can affirm that in God the aversion is presented. In the parable of the prodigal son (Luke 15), the son asks the father the advance of the heredity to live a life of sin, when the son leaves the house, in the father's love there is aversion, that is, the rejection of the son's behavior, but the love remains intact. When the prodigal son spend his money and repents, he returns home asking for the father's forgiveness, it is there when he returns to the house, that the aversion ceases and as the love is intact, forgiveness arises. The parable of the prodigal son is a case of unconditional love, of a love without passion. This is the love of god for us.
