The common sense is the proper virtue of the governant. Aristotle

The common sense is a virtue The common sense is a virtue

Aristotle in Politics, Book III, explains the virtue of the good governant and the good citizen. And he explains: "the city is a community, and it is a community of political regime among its citizens". Then he defines what is the political regime: "the political regime is an organization of the city, of its magistracies", he continues and explains: "in the case of the citizens, it is their task to assure the safety of the community, and the community is the political regime ", to conclude from this analysis that the virtue of the good citizen and the good governor can not be the same, by the nature and characteristics of the leadership, and explains:" common sense is the proper virtue of the governant, the others logically have to be in common to governors and governed, but the virtue of the  governed is not the common sense, but the true opinion ".
Common sense is shared logic. It is necessary to distinguish between the good, the evil and the common sense.
The common sense can be good or bad. The opposite of the common sense is madness, or to say some form of private logic, not shared with the rest.
Through the common sense our decisions make sense for the rest of the society. A society without common sense is a crazy society.
Common sense has a similar role than justice. We could say that common sense is the logical expression of justice because the function of the common sense is to maintain the friendship.
A ruler or a leader who acts with common sense, as Machiavelli says, should avoid the hatred and the contempt. The plots have their origin in these passions.
A leader who acts with common sense, act in accordance with reason and avoid passions, share his ideas. The reason is united to justice, and these two with the common sense. Passions are the most destructive elements of the human being.
